Maximizing Your Camera Flash
Your flash, whether built into your camera or put on it, can be your best friend or your worst enemy, depending on how you use it. Learn flash techniques that will help you flesh out, rather than flatten, your subjects. Bring your camera and be prepared to shoot in the workshop. On-camera flash users, bring plenty of extra batteries.

Printing on the 9600
Instructor: Carrie Mondore
Learn how to use the Epson 9600, which is the only large-format printer (up to 44” wide) available for solo use in Community Darkrooms. This workshop assumes prior knowledge of basic printing techniques through Photoshop and with Epson printers (see Photoshop 101 and Photoshop: The Next Level).
Skills addressed in the workshop:
*Discovering how the printer works
*Getting a tour of the printer display and print dialog box
*Loading sheet and roll paper
*Feeding paper through the machine without losing a finger
*Checking ink levels and cleaning the heads if necessary
*Knowing when the ink REALLY needs to be replaced
*Sending an image to the printer with a specific profile
*Creating a soft proof
*Troubleshooting common problems in large-format printing (this may be the most valuable part of the workshop as it allows you to work independently)
